Pahiyas sa Lucban

In May, a unique and colorful harvest festival is held in the town of Lucban, Quezon, to honor San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers. The festival is deeply rooted in the traditional celebration of townsfolk in thanksgiving for bountiful harvests. On the day of the harvest festival, the house facades are decorated with agricultural products. Houses are lavishly decked with "kiping", a paper-thin colorful decoration made from rice dough, blended with colors and molded into a leaf. People of Lucban decorate their home with various object fashioned out of kiping - lanterns, chandeliers, flowers and other ingenious ways making use of natural product for décor.
