Eastern Cebu and Mactan Island
Introduction
Cebu is an island in the South of the Philippines some times called the "Queen City of the South". It is the oldest and busiest metropolis in the Philippines after the capital Manila. IT offers a combination of sandy white sand beaches, good dive sites, nightlife and easy access via the Mactan International Airport, have made it popular tourist destination in the Philippines.
Almost all resorts offer diving among other water sports. There is also an effort being made by resort owners and the local government to promote marine conservation, which is paying off.
The most popular island for resorts in Cebu is Mactan Island, which is located a short distance Cebu city proper. Mactan Island is also the location of Cebu's international airport.
Diving
 Strong currents are the norm, all the better dives being on steep drop-offs. Some of the pupolar dive sites are some distance away, as a result there are also dive safaris available in this area that take guests to otehr dive locations in Bohol, Cebu and Negros. Diving is possible all year round with the best time being between December and June. Live aboard boats cruise the area from June to March. Western Cebu and Moalboal
Introduction
Moalboal is located on the southwestern coast of Cebu. It is a 3 hours drive across the island froM Cebu City. Moalboal means "bubbling brook". A short 3 km. from Moalboal town is Pangsama Beach, well known for its white sand beach, good snorkelling and relaxed atmosphere.
Diving
 The diving attractions here can be seen as a microcosm of the best of Philippine diving. There is a huge variety of marine life to see and various types of diving to do. During times of strong currents, pelagic species of fish can be seen in the area. Occasionally, the luck can get a chance to see a whale shary or manta ray. |
