Dive Locations : Boracay

Introduction

Boracay is a tropical paradise with sun-scorched fine white sand, a turquoise sea and a background of swaying palm trees set against an azure sky. It is the perfect holiday destination for the whole family with a variety of watersports, trekking trails, terrific accomodations, many local and international restaurants, great diving and a whole lot more available to travellers.

Boracay is located between the Sibuyan and Sulu seas, just north of Panay Island in the Visayas. It is only 7 km. long and barely 1 km. wide. As there are few roads and transport is limited to certain areas by locl laws, the quite atmosphere is maintained.

Diving

Boracay has a pretty good variety of diving. Diving can range from gentle to high-voltage dives and deep drop-offs with good chances of encounters with big fish. The more difficult dives are best done by more experienced divers.

Many of the resorts and dive operators offer dive instruction / courses. There are good number of species of reef life from corals to fishes that can be seen on most dives. As it is an island, many dives are done from boats and can have a good amount of current.

The best time to dive is from Novemeber to June, but good diving can be had all year round.
